Social Engagement Promotion Unit
Collaboration with the Kaitokudo Memorial Association
The mission of the Social-Academic Co-Creation Division is to "promote social-academic co-creation through collaboration with external organizations." By engaging in activities that convey the spirit of "Kaitokudo," a scholarly institution that flourished in Osaka during the Edo period, we strive to strengthen the connection between academia and society.
"Kaitokudo" was a scholarly institution established in Osaka in 1724, founded by and for the townspeople. It is regarded as one of the ideological origins of the University of Osaka. The Disciplinary Network in Humanities at the Graduate School of Humanities, The University of Osaka, collaborates with the Kaitokudo Memorial Association, a general incorporated foundation, to promote the legacy of "Kaitokudo" and advance academic activities in the Kansai region.
Specifically, we deepen the understanding of history and culture by making valuable materials related to "Kaitokudo" publicly accessible, organizing lectures and seminars for the general public, and publishing a journal for members. Through these activities, we aim to share knowledge in the humanities with society and establish a co-creation model where scholarship and practice evolve together.
Through the activities of the Kaitokudo Memorial Association, we strive to protect and showcase Osaka's cultural heritage, thereby exploring new possibilities for bridging academia and society.
