Degree Program Unit

Degree Unit Overview

Degree Units program is responsible for creating an environment where students can conduct research from diverse perspectives, while also ensuring a rigorous and transparent degree evaluation process.
The Mentor System, operated as part of student support, aims to assist with interdisciplinary research. Through this system, students can choose faculty members outside of their major as consultation advisors and receive research guidance (applicable to both Master's and Doctoral programs). This allows students to incorporate new perspectives into their research that they may not gain from within their major. Furthermore, in the doctoral degree evaluation, in addition to the examiners selected from the student's major, faculty from other majors or fields may also serve as examiners under the Disciplinary Network in Humanities category. This system enables a multidimensional evaluation that goes beyond the confines of the student's major, contributing to a rigorous and transparent evaluation framework across the entire graduate school. The degree program provides opportunities for students to challenge themselves beyond their academic boundaries, thus enhancing the overall quality of education in the graduate school.
