DiHuCo Summer Workshop: Call for Participants

This is a practical roundtable discussion and workshop to learn about the use of digital technology in the humanities. Programming experience is not required for the workshop on the 2nd and 3rd days. Anyone who wants to incorporate a new approach into humanities research, whether undergraduate or graduate, is welcome to participate. Osaka University students will have priority participation until the end of July.

  • Date and time: Monday, August 25th to Wednesday, August 27th, 2025: You can apply for just the first day, just the second and third days, or both.
  • Content: The main topics will be digital archives and data creation. For more information, please see the flyer or website.
    • Day 1: Panel discussion by people involved in the creation of the "Shibusawa Eiichi Diary"
    • Days 2-3: We will have a hands-on program for beginners to build their own digital archives using Omeka and IIIF, a technology often used in digital humanities. If possible, you can bring your own research materials (images) to create a digital archive. If you do not have any, we will provide sample data. The digital archive you created will be presented on the final day.
  • Eligible participants: Undergraduate and graduate students interested in digital humanities (After accepting students from Osaka University, we will begin accepting applications from university students and young researchers (equivalent to postdoctoral researchers) from across Japan from August onward.)
